Bruce’s diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) was made public by his family last year. After the initial diagnosis of aphasia, the actor gave up his Hollywood career.

Bruce’s family released the following statement: “We wanted to let all of Bruce’s great fans know that he has been through some health issues and has just been diagnosed with aphasia which is affecting his cognitive abilities. Bruce is leaving a career that meant so much to him as a result, when I thought it through carefully.”
But they subsequently declared that Bruce’s disease had progressed to FTD. “Communication challenges”, emotional problems, and strange behavior are associated with this type of dementia.

“Bruce’s disease is a progressive disease, so I was able to communicate with him before the disease made him as uncommunicative as he is now,” he told the New York Post. Glenn remembered his friend who “loved to get up every morning and try to live life to the fullest” and then marveled at how much Bruce’s disease had gotten worse.
