Women are deciding to break up with their boyfriends after watching Barbie……
If you’re yet to watch it, an official synopsis explains: “Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.”
The movie has been a smash at the box office and has earned Gerwig a place in the history books as it became the highest-grossing movie by a female director.
It’s also gone down incredibly well with viewers – so much so that some women are even vowing to ditch their boyfriends if they don’t agree with the movie’s feminist message.
The craze seems to have taken off over on TikTok, where one user said bluntly: “Take your boyfriend to Barbie if he doesn’t understand the movie… dump him.”
A fellow TikToker warned: “If you’re dating a man and he doesn’t like the Barbie movie, you need to break up with him.”
To which a woman replied: “Agreed. He is not Kenough for you.”
Someone else suggested it could be a good way to test if your other half is really right for you, posting: “I think taking your boyfriend to Barbie should be your relationship test to decide if he’s a good long-term partner.”
Meanwhile over on Reddit, women have been sharing similar thoughts.
“I feel like I’m the a**hole for letting the Barbie movie affect my relationship and the way I see my boyfriend,” one woman wrote.
